WHAT IS CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME?
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition that causes pain, numbness, and tingling in the hand and arm due to pressure on the median nerve as it passes through the narrow passageway at the base of the hand known as the carpal tunnel. This condition is often caused by repetitive hand motions, such as typing or manual labour.
If you are experiencing symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, it’s essential to know that there are effective treatment options available, including advanced injection therapies offered by specialised clinics like London Bridge Regen Clinic.
SYMPTOMS OF CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
The most common symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome include:
- Numbness, tingling, or burning sensations: These sensations often affect the thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers and may be more noticeable at night.
- Weakness: You may experience weakness in the affected hand, making it difficult to grip objects or perform fine motor tasks.
- Pain: Pain may radiate from the wrist up the arm and can sometimes be severe.
- Shock-like sensations: Some people may feel shock-like sensations that travel from the wrist up the arm.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.
TREATMENTS FOR CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
At London Bridge Regen Clinic, we offer three advanced injection therapies for carpal tunnel syndrome:
- Cortisone injections: Cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication that can be injected directly into the carpal tunnel to provide fast-acting relief from pain and inflammation associated with carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Prolotherapy injections: Prolotherapy involves injecting a solution of dextrose and local anaesthetic into the affected area to stimulate the body’s natural healing response, strengthening and repairing damaged tissues around the carpal tunnel.
- Prolozone injections: Prolozone is a regenerative injection therapy that combines ozone gas with nutrients and vitamins to stimulate healing and reduce pain and inflammation in the affected area.

YOUR SIMPLE 4 STEP JOURNEY
Step 1. Free Intial consultation
London Bridge Regenerative clinic gives every patient a free consultation with one of our injecting practitioners. This includes a free ultrasound scan if required.
There is no obligation to proceed to treatment. The consultation is an opportunity to discuss your issue in detail and the benefits and risks of the procedure.
STEP 2. PHYSICAL EXAM AND ULTRASOUND
We will perform palpation and orthopaedic tests to help confirm your diagnosis. If required we may also perform a diagnostic ultrasound scan to assist in visualising the issue. We may also refer you for an X-ray or MRI, depending on the examination findings.
We will allow time to explain the procedure and answer any questions you may have. We make sure you understand the advantages and risks with the procedure before going ahead.
STEP 3. Injection procedure
You’ll be given individual pre-injection advice to reduce your chance of bleeding or infection and support your recovery and aid healing
It’s important to let your practitioner know if you’re on any prescription or over-the-counter medications. You may be asked to stop taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory tablets, which can increase the risk of bruising. It’s also important to stop smoking cigarettes and e-cigarettes before and after the procedure because they can disrupt the healing process.
A local anaesthetic is only needed for Cortisone, Prolotherapy, Prolozone, and Arthrosamid injections.
Arthrosamid also requires an antibiotic, which must be taken 2 hours before the procedure.
STEP 4: RECOVERY AND FOLLOW UP
Following the procedure, most individuals can return home and resume their normal activities. Our clinical team will be available to offer water and provide guidance on post-injection care.
For the next 48 hours, it’s advisable to refrain from strenuous activities and alcohol consumption. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t notice immediate effects; the duration until you experience a perceptible change depends on the specific injection administered.
A follow-up appointment or phone consultation will be scheduled after the course of treatment to review the progress.
INJECTION TREATMENT OVERVIEW
Each of these injection therapies offers unique benefits for patients with carpal tunnel syndrome:
Cortisone injections provide rapid relief from pain and inflammation, making them an excellent option for patients seeking quick symptom relief. The effects of cortisone can be felt within a few days of the injection but may be shorter-lived compared to other therapies.
Prolotherapy injections work by triggering the body’s own healing response, stimulating the growth of new, healthy tissue in the affected area. This can help to strengthen the structures around the carpal tunnel, reducing pressure on the median nerve and improving function over time. Prolotherapy may be particularly useful for treating chronic carpal tunnel syndrome that has not responded well to other treatments.
Prolozone injections harness the power of ozone to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and provide pain relief. Ozone has been shown to improve circulation, stimulate the production of growth factors, and modulate the immune system to support the body’s natural healing processes. Prolozone may be especially beneficial for treating acute pain and inflammation associated with carpal tunnel syndrome.
The choice between these therapies depends on individual patient needs, preferences, and the severity and duration of the condition. In some cases, a combination of therapies may be recommended for optimal results.
At London Bridge Regen Clinic, our experienced healthcare professionals use ultrasound guidance to ensure precise delivery of the medication to the affected area, maximising the treatment’s effectiveness.

I booked in with Jon with a consultation around a month ago for a hip labral tear. Then had my injection with guided ultrasound today and it already feels alot better. I have to say Jon was amazing!! He informed me more than the hospital did regarding my results I had showed him. Jon is friendly, welcoming and professional. The ladies on the front desk are lovely too. 100% recommending Jon to everyone. I wish I had found him sooner as have been waiting on the NHS since January to get this done. The injection was done with great care and was over before I realised. So thank you sooo very much Jon!!
July 2023 - Sarah D. | Shoulder bursitis
After paying a lot of money and over 6 months of pain (not even being able to carry a shopping bag) for Physio with no improvement, I went to see Jon after 1 injection for my bursitis, and the correct exercises I am almost back to 100% with little or no pain Highly recommend, the aftercare is first class - if I had any other problems I would go and see Jon first.
